Money Talks
Fundraising can be fun. And if you can put money where your mouth is -- if you can solve your problem or support your project with dollars you donate -- this can sometimes persuade officials to act on your ideas.
Fundraising can also be a good learning experience. Handling money gives you a hands-on chance to collect sizable sums and keep track of them. Just remember these two important tips:
Save the money you collect in a safe place, such as a bank.
Make sure that at least two people stay with the money at all times until it's deposited.
Not sure how on how you can raise some cash? Here five suggestions for you to try.
Sell something. Schools or groups can raise amazing amounts of money through sales. Try selling seemingly useless objects at a white elephant sale. Besides, parents will appreciate it if you and your friends strip your bedrooms of all the wheel-less cars and abandoned Barbie dolls. It's a lot of work, but every dollar you bring in is pure profit.
You can also raise dough by pitching commercially prepared food: pizzas, popcorn, or candy bars. Food producers or businesses will sometimes donate these items, if you give them free advertising in return.
Would you rather sell homemade goodies? Check first to see if your state requires you to have a food handler's license.
Try your hand at other creative endeavors as well. You can make and sell cards, wrapping paper, buttons, and more.
Sell your services. If you'd rather hire out your time and energy, you can make money through your work. Offering lawn services, snow shoveling, local tours, car washes, and babysitting services can help you bring in the funds you need.
Ask for donations or sponsorships. Businesses may donate time and materials to help you with your problem or project. Employees may be willing to work with you. Your local printer may even agree to print letters or leaflets for free. Sometimes a local business may be willing to fund your project if you agree to identify it as a sponsor.
Hold an event. Dances, talent shows, concerts, auctions, carnivals, film showings -- all these events and more can help you raise money for your cause.
Apply for a grant. A grant is money given to a person or group for a specific purpose. Grants can help you get large sums of money, but they require planning and patience.

You can probably brainstorm many more creative ways to raise money. So go for it!
